ARCHIVES / SOLD

Calling all VW enthusiasts and classic car aficionados! Here's your chance to own a true icon - a highly sought-after 1960 Volkswagen T1 Single Cab Splitscreen.

Timeless Design, Modern Touches: This stunning single cab boasts the classic white and blue color scheme that epitomizes the Splitty era. Originally painted grey, it's been converted to a reliable 12V electrical system for easier maintenance.

Specification
Year 1960
Type T1
Model Single Cab
Color Blue and White
Engine 1600cc Single Port
Assembly Line Germany
Condition Good

Originally grey. Converted to 12V. The bus is very straight and 95% rust (cancer) free. The only rust is surface. The frame, treasure chest, bed, and floor pans are solid and rust free. The rockers are 100%, nose is in great shape (little bit of rust on the drivers side lower corner). The only real cancer is on the passenger dogleg (quarter size hole). There are dings and small dents here and there. The gates are in great shape. The driver's door is a little hard to close all the way. I think it needs to be adjusted, but does close and latch. This truck is not a show truck, but a VERY good foundation for a full resto.

It's lowered. 3,1/2in Jerfab beam. Flipped spindles, Womack spring plates. Steering box raise, bus 15s, on low profile tires (fronts).

The bus runs amazing! it's got a 1600sp with a bug tranny. It's fires right up and haven't had any issues. Could use a new shifter assembly (reverse lockout worn). Does not pop out of any gear and cruises nice on the freeway and around town. E-brake works. Brakes are in good shape. All electrical works perfect (Parking lights, turn signals, headlights, brake lights and license plate light), even the dome light.

The interior is new and in awesome shape. New door panels, seat (upper and lower), headliner, and nose panel. I have the church key for the deck lid and treasure chest. The dash is all original and uncut. Speedo works, but is off about 10 MPH. The factory radio block off plate is still there too!

The bus is remarkably rust-free, with only surface blemishes to address. The frame, treasure chest, bed, and floor pans are in excellent condition. It's lowered for a head-turning stance, featuring a 3.5-inch Jerfab beam, flipped spindles, and Womack spring plates for enhanced handling.

This Single Cab is a joy to drive. The 1600cc single-port engine paired with a bug transmission purrs to life effortlessly. While a new shifter assembly is recommended, it cruises smoothly on freeways and city streets. Brakes are in good shape, and all electrical components, from headlights to the dome light, function flawlessly.

The interior boasts a refreshingly new look with recently replaced door panels, seats, headliner, and nose panel. The original, uncut dash adds a touch of vintage character. The speedometer works but has a slight mileage variance.

This 1960 Single Cab T1 Splitscreen is much more than just a car; it's a nostalgic journey waiting to happen. Whether you're a seasoned restorer or a VW admirer seeking a solid foundation for customization, this beauty is the perfect candidate.
