1971 Volkswagen Bus Riviera Edition

VW Bus for Sale, 1971 Volkswagen Bus Riviera Edition

Price: $17,000

Year of construction 1971. VW Riviera Camper for sale in Sacramento, California. Found this one pop-top camper made by Riviera based on the second generation of the VW bus in excellent condition as the owner says, nice interior, decent top pop with a nice additional roof rack, and no mechanical issues but unfortunately no engine bay photo. The camper was listed on craigslist about 13 days ago, still available when we posted it here. If you're interested come to closer inspection is a must.

Details by owner
Hello VW World I am sadly selling my 1971 VW Bus Riviera Edition. Before I share the technical details of our bus, I will fill you in on its story. I am the 3rd owner, it was originally bought in Oregon, where it lived for the most of its life. Then it was shipped to the Big Island of Hawaii by its 2nd owner, where it then sat for an extended period of time. I bought it about 2 years ago, completely rebuilt the interior and had a bunch of engine work done to it. I then shipped it back to CA and did a HWY 1 road trip with my family. Covered about 700 miles with zero complications, except the clutch needing to be replaced. About 6 months ago, I flew back for a short trip and had some engine problems. I found myself broke down and had to tow it back to my house in Sacramento. Finally we found the time to get it diagnosed at a local shop and it failed a compression test. That being said, it will need some work. The mechanic recommended a rebuild or to drop in a new engine entirely. Which will cost roughly $5k depending on your mechanic. Right now, she runs, starts up fine, but runs rough. My family and I do not have time to fix this bus and would rather it be in the hands of someone who will love it and cherish it more often than we can. I am trying to be as transparent as possible, so I will list all the stuff that I did to it and would be happy to supply all previous repair records to whoever is interested.

Volkswagen Transporter
Year 1971
Type T2A
Model Riviera Camper
Color White
Engine ASK
Made in Germany
Condition Excellent

Overall the body is in GREAT SHAPE! I have some experience in body work and fixed all the body rust that I could find. It has the original paint, with some at home primer repairs, gives it character in my opinion. It has a brand new pop up camper, grey in color, new seat covers front and back, new seat belts, new floor mats and I completely rebuilt the floors and walls. It has insulated floors with a brand new sub floor and vinyl finish, looks really cherry. I installed T & G cedar for the walls and ceiling with some other cool finishes to make it feel at home. It has tie die curtains throughout making it very cozy while sleeping. Its got a new roof rack for extra storage as well. It also has new tires General Grabber AT's, with a spare mounted to the front. 71 Riviera has a 12V system, disk breaks and also with penthouse camper is very rare and hard to find in such good shape. Anyways, I am attaching a bunch of photos, for you to enjoy.

I am not in a hurry to sell, but would be open to reasonable offers. Most importantly I just want it to end up in the right hands. This bus means a lot to me and my family. Asking $17000 OBO

Thank you for looking, please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
