A lovely example of a restored VW Split Screen bus. This bus was supplied new to East Germany where it has spent the majority of its life. It has been recently imported to the UK.
The bus is registered August 1962 which is the cross over month from the flat to lipped rear wheel arches making this bus one of the very first to sport this feature. The bus was previously owned by a leading member of the German Bullikartei. Many upgrades have been made to the bus since being in the UK including the following.

Engine & Mechanical
This is definitely one of the best Splitties I have ever driven with outstanding braking performance from the disc conversion and a solid responsive gear change from the empi quick shift. If you are familiar with these busses you will know that the mechanical upgrades listed are invaluable to make any Split Screen enjoyable and useable for long distance use as well as general day to day journeys. The ride quality is outstanding and the engine pulls like a train throughout every gear. This bus will never overheat even sitting in traffic on the hottest of days. There are no hidden rust issues or nasty gremlins underneath like so many others, this is a solid well looked after vehicle with another 50 years of service ready to be given.
Interior
Another main attribute is the interior, which is in as new condition throughout. There is a full width Rock n’ Roll bed, New soft covered bed and seat cushions, Rear facing buddy seat, removable side mounted table that conveniently swivels, rear overhead storage, extra storage cabinet with space for cooker on top, Authentic Pepsi bottle opener, Vinyl Chequered flooring. The entire interior is of the utmost quality and has been fitted professionally with great attention to detail to ensure many years of great enjoyment.
