Electric Microbus, 2024 VW Microbus ID. Buzz is set to go into production this year.
This time it's not a rumor, Volkswagen wants to revive the greatness of the Microbus with renewable energy for our aging earth. Microbus is back on the production line for 2024, it has been a long time since we have waited for the Microbus concept to be realized, and today we have the good news they will go on sale in Europe this year.Considering that our earth is getting old and demands us to convert energy in a more environmentally friendly way by reducing exhaust emissions of the burning CO2 to zero, Volkswagen already knows since decades ago so he pushed for an all-EV lineup to produce. After waiting for years since the concept was public, they have finally released details of the iconic Microbus, called 2024 ID. buzz.
Volkswagen will offer two versions of the ID Buzz, a passenger carrier for regular customers and a freight or cargo carrier for commercial customers. It is not known whether they will offer it to the US market or not, thanks to regulatory differences with the European market.
Due to different regulations, the specifications of the ID Buzz may differ between the US market and the European market. In form may not be too different but can vary in the wheelbase length, power specifications, safety systems, etc.
The exterior comes in a modern style with full LED headlights and taillights in many body colors to options. VW really knows here, something more automakers need to do to appeal to their consumers.
Interior, like modern cars in general especially electric cars, a large screen as a digital control center on the dash is a must. You will see the usual standard big touchscreen in either 10.2 inches or 12 inches along with other interior techs like USB-C ports and an about 30-color interior ambient lighting system. All look awesome but a small thing to honor their ancestors is retaining the shifter mounted on the steering column as T1 has it.
Interior layout, there’s seating for five, two at the front three in the middle, and a cargo room at the rear, for now. They will offer various seat configurations and layouts for the long-wheelbase model will be coming later.
Apart from the fantastic features, the technology and cruising range of the battery is more important, because the battery is the lifeblood of it all. 82 kWh battery fitted with a 201 horsepower electric motor with 229 lb-ft of torque for the European market model. Not for speed enthusiasts, top speed was limited to only 90 miles per hour, and no word on the range yet.
The battery is mounted on the floor of the vehicle making perfect agility and balance for its size and supporting bidirectional charging. Two ways to make the battery full, 11 kW using alternating current (AC) or 170 kW using a CCS plug connector at a DC fast-charging station (direct current). Only 30 minutes from 5 to 80 percent with DC-fast charging. The ID. Buzz has the latest software and will offer the Plug & Charge function in the future.
The VW Microbus ID. Buzz will go on sale in Europe this year and for US buyers, please be patient, maybe next year the North American model will debut before going on sale in 2024 globally.
