This Hippie Bus has powered by a 1600 motor mated with a 4-speed manual transmission, over half of a century is still in fantastic condition for its age, runs and drives well reportedly, and the body has a perfect shape with a nice patina look, has some spots showing rust and peeling off, but the rest are solid.
As shown here is Early Bay called model is the second generation of VW Bus (Type 2) is the second car model after the Beetle (Type 1) offered by major German car manufacturer Volkswagen, where the mission is to provide affordable cars for the masses, so make a lot of people have one or more at that time. The motor looks clean and dry and has no words of mechanical issues or leaks, is a standard motor of the early bay model, 1600 cc with a single carburetor, able to produce 57 horsepower was up over the Split Screen, but not faster thanks to being constrained by his body weight. When new this motor could run about 65 mph for top speed, from 0 to 60 mph took 37 seconds.
The walk-through interior layout has transformed into a camper, the middle, and back benches has removed, and lots of extra space allows placing a bed into it. Unfinished cabinets make it possible to fit a stove and refrigerator, it would be nice and perfect amenities for van life purposes as a hippie.
Hard to find imperfections from here, all look nice in the photos, it's a perfect base to restore, and for actual condition a closer inspection is necessary. Considering what we have described above, the Early Bay is the most desirable of the VW bus lineage after Split Screen, so bids lower than the price above will not satisfy the owner.
